Replacing damaged presscontrol

This customer called us for a problem with his booster set.

This kind of booster set use to have starting problems because generally, it just runs a few times per year, just when municipality stops water supply.

So at first i thought at the typical case of blocked pump.

On site analisys

When I arrived on the place, I see the pump blocked but I also notice that the old presscontol doesn’t work. We don’t have any tension from the device to the pump, not even clicking manually the reset button, as you can see in the video I sent to the customer:

Also the Megger detects a cable shorted to ground.

I repeated the insulation electrical test on the pump and on the cable. Pump was ok, the cable was shorted to ground. I passed a quotation for cable and presscontrol replacement, customer accepted. At work.

Solving the problem

I decided to install the high quality, made in Italy, Brio2000 presscontrol by Italtecnica.

I lifted the restart pressure just a little bit, leaving it close to the 2 bar then y made a test clicking the reset button:

This presscontrol restart the pump automatically after 15 min (you can change it) in case of dry run and gives to the user the chance to regulate the pump restart pressure. This can result very useful in many situations.
