Submersible pumps control box

In this post I’m going to talk you about a very interesting submersible pumps control box: Eco Pump by Toscano https://toscano.es/
I already analyzed this submersible pump control box in previous articles https://headpumps.com/en/boreholes-and-special-problems/
It is possible to complete this control box with a special wifi device for the remote control. I’ve just tested the wifi device with this well pump Caprari E4XED20-4/29 https://www.caprari.com/es/producto/serie-desert-energy-e4x-e6x/ let’s see how it works.
Well pumps and High tech
Folks, I’ve been installing well pumps for 30 years and lately, when the customers started to ask me a remote control for their well pump, I warned them that well pumps and technology just don’t mix.
When we talk about borehole pumps in countryside the easier the installation, the long lasting will be its life. “Forget about Hi Tech and stuff…just choose high quality materials” This has always been my advice for all the customers.
Well, “things have changed” quoting the old, good Bob Dylan eheh.
Lately, you can find devices that stop the pump for dry run electronically, it’s unnecessary to install sensor probes. The old fashioned level sensor control, used to fail because the sensors get quickly covered by a thick layer of calcium, so the new electronic control has been more than welcome.
Lately also changed the underground water situation…nowadays we don’t have infinite flow rate in our wells…so it’s crucial to know how to ration our underground water.
Now the more difficult task is to find the correct balance between the running time and the stop time of the well pump, and this task we CANNOT leave it to the customer.
Neither the installer can stay onsite a lot of hours checking on the running time of the well pump so what’s the solution?
WE CAN USE THE TECHNOLOGY. Long time installers: welcome to the future.
TPUMP-W by Toscano
This pump control box by Toscano, give us the chance to stop the pump for dry run without using sensor probes BUT the installer has to stay onsite, wait and make tests. The customer don’t want waste time or energies to make this task and generally if he does, he does it wrong, so I recommend to the installers to set the restart time with the mobile phone, easily, from home, thanks to Toscano Tpump-W https://toscano.es/producto/tpump-w/

This is the overview of all your installed Tpump devices

When the well pump is running we can check the Intensity value. In this case 7,7A is a perfect I value for a 1,5hp monophase well pump.

This is the overview of our pump controller, when the pump has been stopped for dry run. I recommend to set the timer in OFF or 24h for the firsts restart tests.
Now we have to make some tests to understand the refilling capacity of the borehole.
From remote, THE INSTALLER, pushes the reset button and checks how much time pass until the next dry run stop.
According to these data, we set the restart time.
It’s quite normal that the underground water flow is quite different by the flow rate we have in summer time, so it will be necessary to repeat this operation two or three time per year.
Eventually, when the water deposit will be full, the float switch will stop the pump and this will be the overview:

The well pump has been stopped, waiting for the water level get low, to restart.
