ANALYSIS OF THE DAMAGED PUMP
Welcome to Doctor Pumps Blog!
Today I show you the fixing of an old waste water pump. It’s an AP model by Bombas Veneto. The customer complained that the pump main interruptor, was constantly tripping and asked me to order a new pump, same model. Before to chase a new pump and throw the old one, Doctor Pump, in Head Pumps, always uses to disassemble and to make an analysis of the pump.
This is very important because sometimes the problem is not the long usage of the pump but the wrong usage of it! If you don’t discover and solve the problem, you are going to burn the new pump soon.
So let’s open and check:

DISCOVERING THE PROBLEM
Disassembling the waste water pump we proceed to a sight analysis of the mecanical/electrical parts of the pump and in this case it was clear the presence of water inside the winding area. But why?
Checking the cable, we discovered that water, poured inside through a broken part of it. The cable had become rigid during years of exposition to natural elements.

FIXING AND SOLVING
Generally the pump has got a rubber part in the cover that block the cable and avoid water leakages, but with the broken cable, the rubber protection didn’t work, so your Doctor Pump found a brillant and professional solution: to make a resin spot to block the cable and water leakages. It’s a special resin that is used for submersible cable joints and special pump parts.
Adopting this solution,we are sure that is not possible any kind of water leak, not even breaking the cable.
Water is going to leak inside the cable, but cannot get inside the submersible pump.
We are going to dry the motor using a special hoven for several hours.

FINAL TEST
Doctor Pump makes a final test with a special technical device that assure the customer that the motor is 100% NOT shorted to ground and perfectly dry so we can reasseble the submersible pump, make the water test and give it back to the customer that saved a lot of money and further possibilities of problems.
